25 May 1987 Circulation Department MacUser Magazine Ziff-Davis Publishing Co. One Park Avenue New York, NY 10016 Dear Sir/Madam: I am a new subscriber to MacUser magazine. I am dissatisfied with the manner in which my subscription was handled. I would like to cancel my subscription and obtain a refund for the value of the remaining portion of my subscription, if the problems with my subscription cannot be corrected soon. The chronology of events leading to my dissatisfaction with MacUser are given below. - I mailed my subscription request in late February or early March of 1987 using a postage paid card from an earlier issue of MacUser. - Within a few weeks of mailing my card, I received the January, February, March, and April issues of MacUser as well as an invoice for $21.84. - While I was surprised at the wisdom of MacUser Subscription Fullfilment Department in mailing earlier issues, which a regular reader would have purchased or read elsewhere and hence would not normally need, I promptly returned the invoice to MacUser with my credit card information. I assumed that the January, February, and March issues were bonus issues and would not count towards my subscription. With my prompt return of the invoice, I assumed that my subscription would start with the April issue. - Within two or three weeks of my returning the invoice, I received a letter from MacUser that I would not receive any further issues since I had not paid my subscription. I ignored it since I had already mailed the invoice. Another notice followed within a couple of weeks which I also ignored. - On 19 May, I received the June 1987 issue. This was about two weeks after I received my VISA bill on which the MacUser transaction date was shown as 6 April. While I did not receive the May issue, the mailing label on the June issue showed an expiration date of January 1988. I still have not received the May issue and I have no need for it now. Because of the inconvenience caused by MacUser Subscription Department in mailing me unwanted, unneeded, and dated issues, I would like to cancel my subscription unless my subscription can be reset to expire after the May 1988 issue. Also, I do not plan to renew my subscription in 1988 unless there is clear evidence that the service has improved greatly. Thank you very much. Sincerely, T. Govindaraj My address for MacUser: T.
