Since I upgraded to System 4.1 on my hard disk, MacsBug seems to have a lot of problems. (I'm using a Mac-Plus, by the way.) More than half the time a crash (or even a push of the interrupt switch) leaves MacsBug in one or another bizarre state where it doesn't work. (e.g., the keyboard doesn't respond or responds with the wrong characters, or the screen goes mostly white, but nothing is displayed, etc.) I never had that much trouble with MacsBug under 3.2/5.3. Perhaps the problem is that the old MacsBug isn't compatible with the new System and Finder. The version of MacsBug I'm using is "MACSBUG 5.1 16-JUL-86 16:31:50". Is this increase in trouble my imagination? Is there a newer version of MacsBug out? I presume I could get it from APDA if a newer version existed (except for the fact that APDA seems to be disgracefully incompetent, at least in dealing with our department). Is there some other way of getting a newer MacsBug? I always liked MacDB; maybe I should move that other Mac over to my desk and use it instead. Maybe somebody has patches for Macsbug... Brian H.
