As I've noticed the particularly encouraging responsiveness of Apple employees on the Usenet, I thought I would toss the following question out to them: What is Apple Manufacturing Corporations position with respect to present or future repair of the loud, annoying whine of the Macintosh SE fan, either under or not under warranty? I tossed this question out to the campus Apple rep, who at first played Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil with the question. I also had the campus dealer kick the question up to the Wisconsin area educational rep, who was to have looked into it. Both of these Apple employees have communicated nothing to me, now after about six weeks. A letter was also sent to Apple tech staff on Applelink by the local user group (a letter originally routed to Jean Louis Gassee, who probably has to make the final decision on this one or at least be in on it -- the letter was rerouted to the tech staff by the local campus rep, also a user group big wig). I'm especially curious if Apple would prefer to wait until a large number of warranties have expired before answering this question! ;-) Any and all official and/or unofficial responses are welcome! -- Jeff Myers: University of Wisconsin Law School AppleLink: UG0122 (Mad Mac User Group) MadMacBBS: (608) 256-6227 ARPA: myers@vms.macc.wisc.edu BitNet: MYERS at WISCMACC
