It was announced on Delphi that Macintouch has been bought by MacWeek, with the old Macintouch folks becoming the Boston office and senior editors. Subscribers to Macintouch will have their subscriptions transferred to the new publication. This is good news, since it means Ric and Rick won't be silenced -- I'm probably biases (since I wrote a bit for Macintouch) but I felt that Macintouch was the best of the smaller publications -- without the marketing gloss and lead time of MacWorld or MacUser, and without the ego and rather obvious bias of many of the other smaller magazines. I'm glad to see they won't be completely going away. As a side note, Ric bitched at me for the way I worded my previous comment on Macintouch. True, they ran out of money, but he felt I implied it was because they didn't watch the budget -- knowing some of the details of the operation, I know this isn't true. Macintouch always was a shoestring operation, trying to keep costs down and quality up. What seems to have done them in was simply being too successful -- the margins were too tight to handle the kind of expansion their success required. If they'd taken advertising, it probably wouldn't have happened, but they would have compromised their integrity, also. So I'm sorry to see Macintouch go, but glad that it (really) isn't gone. chuq Chuq Von Rospach chuq@sun.COM Delphi: CHUQ Now, where did my ex-wife put my Fairy Dust?
