Here's an interesting question: Suppose I have a Macintosh II that has two screens (and two video cards) plugged in, and the screens are positioned side by side. In the Finder, I have my windows set up such that some folders' windows are on one screen, and some folders' windows are on the other screen (call it screen #2). Now, suppose that I take away Screen #2 (maybe the screen broke, or something, or maybe I'm on a different Mac II). What happens to the windows that were on that screen? Will the Finder sense that they're in a nonexistent area (outside of GrayRgn) and reposition them, or will those windows be inaccessible until I hook up another screen? This may seem to be a minor point, but it's one of those little things that could turn out to be a major pain. --Rich

I believe that Finder 5.5 will reposition windows that whose location is outside the GrayRgn. Previous versions, however, did not have such a feature. -- Larry Rosenstein Object Specialist Apple Computer AppleLink: Rosenstein1 UUCP: {sun, voder, nsc, mtxinu, dual}!apple!lsr CSNET: lsr@Apple.com

This is a problem any time you go between Macs with different display areas (e.g., large screens, Mac XL, etc). I believe the Finder (at least the latest versions) will force these windows on screen. -- David Goldsmith Apple Computer, Inc.
