Although I have not used it much, there is a shareware application called "Scholar's Aid". It is in the Info-Mac Archives. It works with Microsoft WORD by emplanting special mail-merge commands. The actual bibliographical database is kept in Excel or FILE. The application scans the WORD file for references, creates a special doc that is used by EXCEL or FILE to build the required bibliography and then plugs in references and bib using the mail merge capability of WORD.
