I have a few question reguarding the Mac's Rom version and the machine type that the Toolbox call ENVIRONS returns. In Inside Mac IV, it says that the ROM version for the old macs is 105, and that the 128K ROM's have a version number of 117. On my Mac SE, I get a version number of 118 - (256K ROM's version number?). First of all can I use the following test to determine the Rom type: ROM version < 117 64K ROM old Mac 128K & 512K ROM version = 117 128K ROM Mac Plus and 512K Enh. ROM version = 118 256K ROM Mac SE or Mac II I also wish to determine what kind of Mac that is being used. IM IV says that the machine number returned from ENVIRONS returns: machine = 0 - Mac XL machine = 1 - Mac 128K, 512K, 512E, Mac Plus My Mac SE return '3'. What does a Mac II return? Are there any other ways to determine the machine type or determine the specific machine? Maybe this is documented in Inside Mac V - Is this available yet, or when will it be available? Any help is appreciated. ALSO - Does anybody have a list of resources that can be removed from System 4.1 so that is still runs on an SE, but without all of the Mac II stuff in it? The System is absolutely HUGE!!! Tom Carstensen
