Well I just got Version 2.0B1 of MPW Pascal in the mail from APDA. It's an 800K HFS floppy, but they ship it on a TDK single sided disk. Since MPW is an Apple product, I guess Apple now endorses using both sides of a Single Sided Floppy. ARPA: Michael.Fryd@g.cs.cmu.edu

Yes, MPW is an Apple product, but it's produced (disks & docs duplicated, packaged, etc.) by APDA, a separate company. We don't have any control over them, but I'll mention this to our APDA coordinator. No, Apple still does not endorse use of single-side-certified floppies as double-sided; individually, there are those within Apple that have had success with this, but (personal opinion) I feel that my data is too valuable to risk for a couple of bucks per disk (No flames about the value of *my* data, pleeze! :-) ). ---------------------------- Bryan Stearns Developer Technical Support Apple Computer, Inc. Follow up on APDA's use of single sided floppies: I don't know what Apple's policy is, but I do know that APDA is an independent organization. Therefore, their use of both sides of a single sided floppy should not be taken as an approval of this practice by Apple. -- Jordan Mattson UUCP: ucbvax!mtxinu!apple!jordan Apple Computer, Inc.
