Ideally, a shar file should be self-stripping (i.e. when the file is run through sh, any comments are automatically thrown away, or placed in a README-like file, as appropriate).

To aid in extracting "shar" files that are posted as news articles, I suggest that all shar archives end with an "exit" statement.
