Well, on first listening to my upgraded SE, it didn't seem all that much quieter. It was at least 25% quieter, but I'm not so sure it was 50% as I said it would be in my earlier posting. So, I decided to listen to it for a few days before posting. Now, I'm sitting in front of the company owned, non-upgraded SE at work after a whole weekend in front of my personal upgraded SE at home. I can say for certain that I'm glad I upgraded. Though the new fan isn't a lot quieter, it is a much more pleasant tone more of a hum than the SE's old buzz. Two clarifications. First, though the upgrade does void the warranty on macs less than 90 days old, the real problem comes when you need an analog board swap. You'll have to put the old fan back on before Apple will let you trade in your dead A-board for a new one. Second, I probably shouldn't have posted when I did, ComputerWare wasn't ready with sufficient stock for the flood of calls (ah, the power of the net) they said that they should have all they need sometime this week 7/20+. mike -- UUCP: {hplabs,amdcad,ihnp4,allegra}!amd!mikep ARPA: amdcad!amd!mikep@decwrl.dec.com USPS: Mike Parker, AMD, P.O.
