[comp.sys.mac] Bibliographies and indexing

     Apologies if this was covered in the recent discussion of
bibliography software.
     Someone here wants to maintain largish (i.e., book-length)
bibliographies.  The only (possibly) tricky requirement is the
ability to automatically, or semi-automatically, or at least not
completely manually generate indexes, i.e., end-of-work lists of
the pages on which records containing specified strings will
appear when printed.
     Can pbs do this?  Anyone know of a general purpose Mac
database manager with such a function?  Is there any alternative
to Word?
