I'm new to the net and the Mac world as well. I bought an SE in June and have experienced both the screen shimmer and mouse problems dialogued here. The vertical movement of lines on the screen are indeed less than one pixel high...more like 1/4 to 1/2 but it is annoying. A friend just returned his under warranty and the dealer replaced the analog board...complete cure and a much quieter fan as well (I tacked a thick washcloth on the wall behind the SE...made it only twice as loud as my IBM-XT vs the previous 3-4. Has anyone else returned theirs to the dealer? Any results? Until I read it on the net, I thought the mouse problem was me. I don't experience "double-click", but on any selection that auto-repeats, such as scroll arrows, you have to get off the button extremely quick or you will get repeating. I tore the mouse apart...the switch looks ok, but it's micro-spring is doing double duty, lifting the mouse button back up as well as the switch plunger. Not only that, but there is a great deal of over- travel. I put thin slices of foam (from those energy saving light switch covers) between the switch and the button and cured those problems, getting much better control of the mouse, but still having some repeating. Is it possible, the extra speed of the SE is at fault? Is there a delay value in the driver software (before a button down flag or autorepeat) that could be increased? Maybe some of the Apple reps can find out. Thanks for the help and any advice Leonard "Maurice" Riggins -- Leonard "Maurice" Riggins
