I should have waited one more day before I posted about the panasonic printer. It turns out that I got a letter today (yesterday, as of an hour ago, to be precise) from Lyco which said that since the product was discontinued they wouldn't be able to fill the order. When I called to find out what it was all about (after all, I knew that it was discontinued when I ordered--in fact, that was the impetus for ordering the printer at that time), I was told that at the time that the order was taken, they had the printers in stock but that somehow before my order got to the shipping dept, they ran out--apparently they overestimated and took too many orders or something to that effect. I was told that there might be a Sekosha printer that would be mac compatible but that too seemed to be discontinued too--in fact, all AP model printers seem to be on the way out or already gone. Does this have anything to do with the letter qualilty dot matrix printer that Apple announced today in Boston (check out the NY Times' Business section, 8/12) or is it all just a matter of poor marketing (I can't recall a single ad for a mac-compatible printer in any of the monthlies and in the few MacWeeks that I've seen I don't remember seeing any either) ? I think that I'm going to have to get an Imagewriter ll after all since I need something soon. A silly question--what is the proper place to set the top of form on the Imagewriter ll so it'll do headers correctly, etc. ? I seem to remember reading, maybe here, that one has to be more careful with the Image- writer ll in this regard than with the Imagewriter l since it can mess up the print-out if one doesn't get it right. That's all for tonight. __ DC coming to you from somewhere on the planet Pluto.UUCP....
