A long-time Apple II user, I'm completely naive about Macintoshes. I'm planning to buy a second computer pretty soon, and I've seriously considered the Macintosh II. However, I have several concerns before such a hefty purchase. 1) Will the price drop if I wait a little longer? How much? How long? 2) It is state-of-the-art right now. How long before obsolescence sets in? 3) How long before 3rd party developers begin to produce Mac II-specific software/hardware? 4) What is the percent compatibility between the Mac II and older Macs? 5) Does the current version of the Mac II have any bugs in its hardware (like the IIgs had in its early stages)? 6) Will the Mac II be able to support a full-fledged Unix environment? 7) Could it ever be possible that the Mac II would be able to run Apple II series software? I'm sorry for the verbosity. I just know so little about Macintoshes that it's difficult to direct my queries at specific subjects. To insure my reception of any replies, please respond via e-mail.
