I've noticed that, every once in a while, MacNifty sound digitizers and MacVision video digitizers freeze-up. It seems to be a screw-up in the handshaking between the various boxes and the SCC running the serial port. In the case of the MacVision, it will either flag a "no signal" error or it will sit around sweeping (vertically) only one of the collumns of video input. Since neither of these units have an equivalent to a "hardware reset" button, I am usually forced to power down everything in order to get it working again. On the other hand, maybe my SCC isn't working quite right? Any suggestions? Gary (sun, hplabs, amdahl)oliveb!oliven!gnome

Well, I found out that, in the case of the MacVision, the little power regulator box had a number of cold solder joints. One of these bad connections was causing semi-filtered DC to be sent to the digitizer, causing it to never increment the "collumn count" as well as show as an intermittent loss of video. The PC board in the power adapter box has really crumby plating, so it is likely that other units will fall prey to similar failures. Other than that, the Koala MacVision works great! Now, what causes the wedge with the MacNifty... Gary (sun, amdahl, hplabs)oliveb!oliven!gnome
