Lightspeed C uses the Mac system calls as they're defined in
Inside Macintosh -- varied case. If I remember correctly, there was
a utility provided with Megamax C that would allow you to
change the ROM call names from lower case only (the Megamax convention)
to misxed case (the LSC convention). Alternatively you
could define a set of macros, but that's time consuming...
I've seen Turbo Pascal, and fast as it is, my Pascal of choice is
Lightspeed Pascal. It compiles and links just as fast as Turbo, has
a good syntax-checking editor, and uses sophisticated context-switching
to implement what you call "saccharine hand-holding" -- and that I call
"source-level symbolic debugging".
