I realize this has been discussed many times in the past here but unfortunaly I didn't pay much attention at those times. So don't flame me for the following questions, please! :-) I'm seriously considering a memory upgrade for my Mac+. The most likely candidate is a 2 Meg upgrade. And the two 2Meg upgrades I here about the most are the 'Dove' and 'MacMemory' upgrades. I think they are both in the $250.00 to $350.00 price range. So the question is: Which is the better value, ... the most reliable, ...the best warranty, ...the easiest to install(don't know noth'n bout no hardware!)? I hope there are lots of folks who have made the move and can give me some good advice. Thanks in advance for answers. --Bill UUCP: {hplabs, seismo, nbires, noao}!hao!bill CSNET: bill@ncar.csnet ARPA: bill%ncar@CSNET-RELAY.ARPA INTERNET: bill@hao.ucar.edu "... the Eagle Wing palace of the Great ChinaCat"

(Note: this might also hold true for the Dove product as well.) The first is one uses SIMMS that are of similar density (256Kbits) to those already on board. The technician will install a "winged outboard" affair that extends a bit above the motherboard. The second type is the more preferred type (my opinion). This one replaces two (the last two) SIMMS with two others with 1Mbit density. This is quite clean in appearance. What's more it is ultimately upgradeable to 4Mbytes. BUT the cost is close to $500. Which you choose is up to you, but I thought you should at least know about the second type in the event you expect to use a large screen monitor (requiring CMOS). -- Eric Geoffrey Vann Analysts International (Chicago Branch) (312) 882-4673 ..!ihnp4!aicchi!egv
