The power supply board on my mac just went. A friend told me that it might be possible to get a reconditioned board rather than buying a completely new one. Is this possible? Just to make sure that the Apple dealer is giving me a fair deal, how much should I expect to spend to get this fixed? Note: I had upgraded to 2Meg but had not gotten a fan yet. (I know, I should have gotten a fan!!!) Note: My Mac has the original 128K-Mac power supply board. Thanks for your help!!

Yours actually went much later! Mine went after 2 years, before I went to 2 Meg or even to the new ROMS. At any rate, I got a new one for less than $150 from the dealer where I bought the Mac. I haven't heard about reconditioned boards, but that kind of thing would make me very nervous. Since the price for a new one isn't unreasonable, perhaps you ought to go with it ...
