Question: Is University Ingres public domain? If so, I need a copy for a Vax 11/750 running Unix System 5 release 2. Thanks much Jim Tollefson 6655 Lookout Road Boulder, CO 80301 (303) 530-3905 ihnp4!sdcrdcf!bmcg!asgb!jimt or decvax!ittvax!dcdwest!sdcsvax!bmcg!asgb!jimt

While Ingres is public domain, there is no requirement that anyone give you a copy. In fact we (the Ingres project) do NOT distribute Ingres. The only way you can get a copy from the University is to show proof of a UNIX source liscence, and then to buy the 4.2 release. However, if you can find a friend with a copy, you will be breaking NO laws if he/she/it gives you a tape... Joe Kalash System Manager, Ingres Project kalash@berkeley ucbvax!kalash
