Greetings, Netlanders: I know this does not relate directly to music, but there is no newsgroup net.tickets, nor net.grateful_dead, so here goes... I called the Grateful Dead west coast hotline Sunday night (415) 457-6388 and was given telephone numbers to call concerning the Late December shows at San Francisco. Requests for tickets for the 27th, 28th and 30th shows are being handled seperately from requests for New Years tickets. I took notes when listening to the tape recorded messages at each of the numbers they gave. The steps that I followed when sending for my tickets are listed below. I believe that I have all the necessary information, but you can verify by calling the deadline and then calling the numbers they will supply. (I had to call each of the numbers in excess of 15 times to finally get a non-busy signal, so you may have to try a bit). * * * Tickets for the December 27th, 28th, and 30th can be purchased through the mail by sending a 3x5 card with your name, address, and phone number (including area code) in the left hand corner with your request for tickets printed elsewhere on the card. In addition, a self addressed envelope and a cashiers check, or money-order (do not send personal checks) for the appropriate sum of money. Tickets cost $13.50 plus a $1.00 handling fee per ticket. You may purchase no more than 4 tickets per day and you are expected to give your order of preference in case they are running low on tickets. Make money orders payable to: Grateful Dead Ticket Sales -- San Francisco Civic Mail your 3x5 card, self addressed stamped envelope and money order in a LEGAL SIZE envelope addressed to: Grateful Dead Ticket Sales -- San Francisco Civic Box C - S 8150 San Rafael CA 94901 Orders should be filled immediately (while supplies last). Tickets will go on sale at the box office November 27th. * * * All tickets for the New Years show will be purchased through the mail. Requests that are postmarked before November 19th will be pooled together, and names will be drawn until all the tickets have been sold. People who do not receive tickets will have their money refunded. The procedure is similar to the other dates, with the exception of the delay until early December before you can be positive that you have or have not received tickets. Please read carefully, because there are a few differences, and the tape machine stressed that everything must be followed completely. Send a 3x5 card with your name, address, and phone number (including area code) in the left hand corner with your request for tickets printed elsewhere on the card. In addition, a self addressed envelope and a cashiers check, or money-order (do not send personal checks) for the appropriate sum of money. Tickets cost $20.00 plus a $1.00 handling fee per ticket. You may purchase no more than 4 tickets. Make money orders payable to: Grateful Dead Ticket Sales -- New Years Eve Mail your 3x5 card, self addressed stamped envelope and money order in a LEGAL SIZE envelope addressed to: Grateful Dead Ticket Sales -- New Years Eve Box C - S 8190 San Rafael CA 94901 If you do not hear one way or another by December 15, you are to call (415) 457-6240 to find out what has happened. I do not know how likely it will be to receive tickets in this manner. I put in a request for 3, and I have my fingers crossed... --cliff [matthews] University of New Mexico ...ucbvax!unmvax!cliff ...lbl-csam!lanl-a!unm-cvax!cliff
