A week ago I was trying to printout the HyperTalk help section off my Imagewriter II and Mac SE. Because I have only one Mb of memory, (and because of other problems) I was forced to run off one card per page (by hand, using Super Spool). At two different points during this tedious process, when I told it to "Print Card" I got a dialog box that said: "Say 'Please'!" <OK> <Cancel> Why did I get this message? Is this some hidden joke by the Apple people that I've discovered (or by Bill Atkinson), or is it a joke by the SuperMac people? Any info? Jim Collymore

In one of the help cards they give you a chance to experiment. At that point they have a message handler that intercepts things and you get the cute message. I found it once, and found the script that did it, but now I can't. Jim Hayes, University of California at San Diego. I don't remember which card, but it was explaining how to intercept menu commands, and there was a card scrit that put up the dialog mentioned above when a menu was chosen, so the example/joke made sense in that context. Since you printing the help cards, you must have run into it when you tried to select Print... --ron. beloin@batcomputer.tn.cornell.edu or beloin@crnlthry.bitnet

That card is special; it has a button that's used to demostrate the method the card describes. Apparently when you were doing the print routine, the special button over-rode the one in the print dialog (or somesuch), and you got presented with the message. It's really an interactive Help system. Looks like it interacted with you, too! Clive Steward
