[comp.sys.mac] Cyrillic fonts for Russian word processing

emv@pepe.cc.umich.edu (Ed Vielmetti) (09/16/87)

Could someone point me to a list of Cyrillic fonts for the Mac? Laser
fonts would be nicest. If there's an international customization
setup for Russian that would be keen too.

Send replies by mail and I'll summarize for the net.

Well, I don't know about any customization, but Casady Softworks has
some nice Cyrillic both bitmapped and laser. If you don't want to
spend money, there are several public domain Cyrillic fonts floating
about that are quite nice.

Dos Vidanya!

SORRY, I tried to reply directly to requestor but node "pepe" was not found
so I'm sending it to the world in hopes it will get wherever it needs to go.

It seems I do this about once every few months and only for Russian.
(never serbian, aramaic, sanskrit, babble, etc. :-) :-)

Fluent Fonts. contains a Cyrillic set but its not as good as

Fluent Laser Fonts Volume #9 (Cyrillic) List:$69.95+tax+ship

To quote from the Fluent Laser Font brochure:
Russian, Ukranian, Bulgarian, Serbian. (All other words in Russian.)

Laser & plain Fluent Fonts use a different keyboard layout even though
the font name is the same. The font bit patterns are different too.

Laser Fonts come as Cyrillic, Bold C, Italic C, and Bold Italic C as one happy
family.

Laser Fonts seems to also contain the OLD Russian letters (as I've been told).

I have had both (and some PD fonts) on my Mac but only the Laser Fonts now.

----
OK, so I know them and they've done me favours but (I make no commission :-)
and) I honestly know of no other LaserFont for Cyrillic. (I disclaim nothing!-)
----
BTW What are you doing with Cyrillic?
If it involves anything more than just typing letters
such as CAI, machine translation, etc. please drop a line.
I have relatives interested in working with others in this area.
