[comp.sys.mac] TechNotes: Printing on the LaserWriter

jdm@ut-ngp.UUCP (Jim Meiss) (09/22/87)

For some mysterious reason, when I unBinHex the TechNotes and tell MacWrite to
print them (Using LaserWriter driver 4.0 I think), they come out with the
horizontal lines too long for the margins, and occasional page breaks
in improper places, leading to empty pages, and usually a total number
of pages which is larger than the footer indicates ( e.g. "page 12 of 11",
seems like you're getting something for nothing from Apple!)

Are you supposed to do something the equivalent of "Tall Adjusted" on the
Laserwriter to get this to work, or is it that Tech Support just likes it
this way? :-(

I have run into the same problem before, and traced the problem down to the
fact that I didn't have the Helvetica fonts on my system, so Geneva was
being substituted. As many resume writers know, this font substitution can
screw up a carefully formatted document...

This may not be your exact problem, but perhaps it's related?

By the way, I do have Helvetica, Times, Courier and Zapf DingBats
in my sytem folder, so font substitution wouldn't seem to be the problem.
