I am glad that so many of you are able to enjoy
our MACSERVE, but I am also sad for all of you who
can't. As far as I've been able to tell, you just
can't access it across networks, because it has to
receive requests via the TELL command.
Here's where you all come in: If anybody has any
speculation / experience about this matter, please
let me know. A lot of people are still frozen out,
and if there's any way at all for them to use
MACSERVE, we should let them know about it. I have
no clue about anything other than BITNET CMS
installations, so any little tidbit of info might
be helpful.

For the past six months or so I have been using the server macserve at
Princeton (PUCC) for downloading Info-Mac files. Recently, file updates
have ceased (like the digests) and have not yet resumed (unlike the
digests). Is there another server available through bitserve to use in
the interim?

Thanks in advance --

Ken

If you tell me exactly what isn't updating, I can get it checked. Are
the digests being archived on SUMEX-AIM? Because that is what MACSERVE
is based on and if its not archiving, then MACSERVE won't either. (Someone
on ARPA would have to answer that).
