I been having alot of problems with my Passport MIDI interface. It connects to the modem serial port of my Mac. I've determined that there is something wrong with my modem serial port. I went to a friend's house; he has the exact same computer and interface. I replaced my Mac with his and the system doesn't work. What's really odd is that I've been using my serial port for my modem for a long time without any problems. If I connect my MIDI interface and bring up a terminal emulator and type something, my Yamaha FB-01 Tone Generator says "MIDI Error", which means something is getting through. I suspect that the power pin on my serial port is bad. My modem does not use a pin for power, but I think the passport midi interface uses power to run the MIDI clock circuit. Any ideas?
