I just unbinhexed Orbit on my Mac-Plus this afternoon. Our resident chaos guru remarked (I'm paraphrasing now) "Wow! This is great! Totally nifty!". This is the guy who brings our Sun-3/160 to its knees doing these kinds of calculations. It's really kind of embarssing. We spend all this money on Suns and Vaxen only to have to admit that we need Macs to do graphics. We huddle in corners and justify the big machines to ourselves by agreeing that while the Macs are good for pretty pictures, you can't do "real work" on them. Now this comes along. Harumph! Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view :-)), Orbit seems to bomb, requiring a system restart whenever you try to load any of the various predefined configurations, and also when running some of the selections from the "Equations of Motion" menu. Anybody else have this problem? Also, does anybody know if it is possible to enter your own equations of motion, as opposed to simply adjusting the paramaters on the existing ones? "What, he wants to run MAXIMA on the Mac too?" -- Roy Smith, {allegra,cmcl2,philabs}!phri!roy System Administrator, Public Health Research Institute 455 First Avenue, New York, NY 10016
