Thanks to all on the net who responded to my request for leads for a large screen display for a Mac + or SE. Following are the responses received. I've contacted some of the companies listed and the possibilities look promising. _______________________________________________ From: sdcsvax!jww (Joel West) A Mac II comes standard with a 12 or 13" screen. I presume that a board for the SE supports such a screen, but don't own an SE, so can't say for sure. I doubt there's anything cheaper than a Radius FPD (~~ $1500 from ComputerWare) for the Mac Plus, since it's now officially obsolete when it comes to expandability. ____________________________________ From: "R.Crispin - Psychology" <watdcsu!psych@uunet.UU.NET> Status: RO I saw an add in a magazine within the last 4 weeks or so for a monitor for the mac that is basically a larger version of the Mac screen (ie you don't get anymore on the screen its just bigger). It cost around $300. I have not been able to locate the add to give you more specifics. If I do find it I will let you know. Richard Crispin Dept. of Psychology University of Waterloo Waterloo, Ont. I hope this message gets to you before the other. It is on page 18 of the Oct. issue of MACazine. The monitor is called the ProAPP EyeSaver. Its suggested retail price is $395. The ad doesn't say but it looks like a 12 or 13 inch monitor. The address is Logic Array 2 Faraday, Irvine, CA 92718 (714)586-7700 Hope this helps. They do work with MacPlusses and (I think ) there is an SE version. The price was in the neighborhood of $200 as I recall. I hope this helps. The total price, for members of the Call-APPLE collective is $340. !!! Amazing. I'm going to post a mention of it to the people who were interested in finding out about eyestrain. I'm pretty sure that it keeps the same number of bits across and down, just a larger tube. However, I just want to reiterate what 99.999% of mac users have found out: that the 9" screen is SO SHARP that it's much better than almost all other tubes I've ever used -- I'd really not want a larger screen, unless it had much more resolution and a similar clarity. --chris sterritt -- << Usual Disclaimer >> Phil Weinberg @ Motorola Semiconductor, San Jose, CA UUCP: {hplabs, mot,} !motsj1!phil Telephone: +1 408-985-0510
