I am trying to put together a special screen dimmer program for Mac and Mac II computers. I've got the installation part using an INIT 31 pretty well figured out but with all the restrictions on using global variables & such I am a little confused about a couple of things. 1. If you have a piece of stand alone code (say, triggered by the vertical interrupt manager) can you still use the window manager to put up a big window that overlaps the whole screen? 2. Can you still get at the font manager? 3. Can you still open and close disk files? 4. Is there any way to cause ALL the windows on screen (including the background) to go through an update event? If anybody has answers to these questions I would appreciate it, particularly if you have sample code that does any of the above things from a piece of stand alone code (ie: not an application).
