I've read the net.advice about reducing the fan speed on the SE to reduce the horrendous howl. Fine. Sounds neat, but I don't recall seeing any quantitative (or at least semi-quantitative) measure of the improvement. By "quantitative" I mean "quantitative," e.g. "dropped 12dB at typical viewing position." By "semi-quantitative" I really mean "relative," e.g., "now quieter than my HD20 SCSI" (= still obnoxious), or "now quieter than my Radius FPD", or "now as quiet as my FX20." Any comparison to readily available hardware would be helpful, if still somewhat subjective. My office mate's SE is howling in my ear at this very moment, and before I get my own (for home use) I want to be sure that I can stand to live with it. Thanks. J.
