I am at the point of upgrading my Mac 512 w/ external 400K drive (yes, I'm still in the Dark Ages!) and am seeking recommendations. My current grocery list looks like this: 128K ROM internal 800K drive SCSI port 1 or 2 MB memory big screen (i.e. more pixels, not just larger) I know that I can/should get the ROM/disk upgrade from Apple (which would make my system a "512KE"). For the SCSI and memory, I would probably go with Dove, since I've read good things about them here (thanks Chuq!). That leaves me with the "big screen". I have dire misgivings about compatibility between a clip-on memory upgrade (Dove) and any big screen for the 512KE which would probably be a clip-on also. Do any of the big screen makers support Dove's or anyone else's memory/SCSI upgrades? Are there other cofigurations that would make this combination possible (e.g. upgrading to a Plus, or getting a 68020 accelerator)? I do NOT need the 68020 for its performance or sex appeal, so I would choose that route only if it were the lowest-cost way to "get from here to there". Anyway, I welcome all suggestions, dis-recommendations, etc. (even flames). Post only if your comments are of interest to everyone. I will summarize all email I receive. Dave Wolverton ihnp4!houxs!daw
