First of all, I would like to thank those who responded to me via E-mail about my request on the pictures in the SE Rom. Thanks. I now have two unrelated questions... 1.) Our graduate group (chemistry) at UC Davis is purchasing a Mac Plus and LaserWriter for use by the grad students. My question is: is anyone aware of a program (commercial or shareware) that would keep track of the individual users **AND** keep track of how many copies they printed on the LaserWriter? I realize that each person would be on the honor system as far as logging on with the system disk that contains the program that I am wondering about. If this hypothetical program also could be set up so that each research group would have its own password, that would be nice too...but not neccessary. 2.) My second question is this: How does one upload a program to, say, comp.binaries.mac? Here's what I know...to download a program I first copy it from comp.binaries.mac to my home directory. I then xbin it into three separate files (name.info, name.data, name.rsrc). These three files are then transferred to my home computer by using "macput" and macxmodem protocol, I guess. Sooo...how does one do the reverse of what I just described? Actually, I can upload from my home computer to the school computer and end up with the three files described, but am at a loss as to how to combine the three files into one text file for sending via postnews or sendmail. I am almost certain (because I spent a long time searching for it) that we do not have a program in our archives that does the reverse of xbin. If this is what is needed, and someone has a copy, then could you please post it to comp.binaries.mac or mail it to me? It would be greatly appreciated, as I want to upload a program I wrote to comp.binaries.mac. Thanks for any help in advance. Jim Deline ucbvax!ucdavis!deneb!jedeline
