I've been noticing that some of my older diskettes work on some SE's and not others. In two cases disks that were initialized on the old 400k drives when inserted in my SE didn't work at all, but were savable with MacZap. MacZap indicated that the allocation tables had been trashed. However, this same diskette worked perfectly well on another's SE. More recently, a file on a diskette that worked on my SE and another's was unopenable on a third person's SE; it showed a checksum error under Fedit +. Has anyone else experienced such problems? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ...{bbncca,decvax,dual,rocksvax,watmath,sbcs}!sunybcs!cohen CSNET: cohen@Buffalo.CSNET ARPANET: cohen%Buffalo@csnet-relay.ARPA BITNET: cohen@sunybcs.BITNET GEnie: AJCOHEN --==>>Alex Cohen<<==-- ------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have had an SE eat disks that I had been using on my Plus. It happened three or four times--take a good disk to the SE, pop it in, and bye-bye data. The disk was not readable on the + or SE. Now, I have an SE, so it's not my problem anymore, and I haven't pursued it. But you aren't alone in having problems... ---- Steve Dorner, U of Illinois Computing Services Office Internet: dorner@uxc.cso.uiuc.edu UUCP: ihnp4!uiucuxc!dorner IfUMust: (217) 333-3339

I noticed some of my 400K disks don't work with my SE drive also. In fact, I can't eject them without causing a SYSTEM Bomb! Any ideas why?
