my apologies to those of you who have seen (or given) answers to this question before. What resistor needs to be cut (or other adjustment made) to the macII mother board after adding two 1 meg simms ? i tried the "pop 'em in and hope" method but to no avail. i thank you, and my macII thanks you. responses by e-mail appreciated. spud@metasoft.uucp

You don't need to cut a resistor to install SIMMs in a Mac II, only a Plus or an SE. You cannot install just 2 SIMMs modules into the Mac II - you must install 4. From that, you get the possible memory configurations below: 1 MB 4 256K SIMMs 2 MB 8 256K SIMMs 5 MB 4 256K SIMMs & 4 1MB SIMMs 8 MB 8 1MB SIMMs You need to use SIMMs of 120 nanosecond (or less) access time. There is an exact way in which the SIMMs must be installed for 5MB, but I don't have the information handy at the time. ========================================================================= Robert Hammen Computer Applications, Inc. hammen@csd4.milw.wisc.edu Delphi: HAMMEN GEnie: R.Hammen CI$: 70701,2104
