Our department recently installed AppleTalk Cabling, thinking we would never exceed the 1000 ft. limit for cable length. Well-you guessed it- after going around heating ducts and out into hallways looking for right-of-ways, we put in WAY OVER 1000 ft. Not only is performance down at the ends of the daisy-chain, but everything else in the middle is mired down too. We use FastPath (kinetics) to talk to other apple nets, but can not see all of them at this time (same goes for LaserWriters & ImageWriters on all nets). I read in the 9/8 issue of MacWEEK that PhoneNet can be added onto existing AppleTalk, length restrictions go away, and everything will work just fine. What I need to know is How do we do it and How Much will it cost us. We are going to add maybe ten more devices, and need to have this problem whipped before the new stuff comes. This is turning into a real headache, and I would appreciate any and all suggestions using Farallon or non-Farallon items. Mail directly to me, or post your reply if you think it would be useful info for all would-be network administrators. Thanks In Advance Glynda Jones (I don't think we can line item that)Davis
