I have encountered a strange problem with Word 3.01 footnotes that perhaps has a solution out in netland. Using 3.01 and files created entirely by 3.01, with a Mac Plus and a Laserwriter Plus, footnotes in Bookman font point size 10 (the regular text is in point size 12), Laserwriter selected in the Chooser, Appletalk on, and Page Setup with no unusual settings, the following occurs. On the screen, the footnotes appear justified, which is what I want, since I I have modified the footnote text style to be justified Bookman size 10. When printed out, however, the first line of every footnote runs past the right margin by about the same amount of space as the little footnote number takes up on that line. It's as though Word tells Quickdraw to account for that little number, but does not tell Postscript. I take it this is a bug in Word 3.01, not an error on my part, since on the screen it looks fine. Anyone know of an easy solution? (I know I can try something complicated with sticky blanks or some such thing, but I am hoping for a less tedious avenue...I have lots of footnotes.) Microsoft Word folks, are you listening? Thanks! -- Craig D.
