In August, Apple demonstrated and announced AppleShare PC, a software product for AppleTalk PC Card equipped PCs and compatibles that allows them to transparently access AppleShare file servers. An important aspect of the software is that it makes it very easy for users to share data between PCs and Macintosh systems. The key to that statement is the existance of programs for each system that can read data files produced by the other. One example would be Lotus 1-2-3 on the PC and Microsoft Excel on the Mac. AppleShare PC has special support built-in for such "dual-system" data files. However, as we near final release, we are missing one key element in that support: we do not as yet have a complete list of applications with PC/Mac counterparts. Developers that have received beta copies of AppleShare PC will be contacted directly by us; this posting is an appeal to all other members of the Macintosh and PC development community: If you produce a Macintosh or PC application that can directly import/export files produced by an application on the other system, please send me email with a list of those application pairs. After compiling that list, we will then contact developers with additional information regarding AppleShare PC's special support features. This information is needed ASAP, as the product will be freezing very shortly. Thanks for your cooperation, Robert Lenoil Apple Computer, Inc.
