I know there have been many complaints about the frequent garishness of applications running in color on the Mac, but have you seen the ads for dBase Mac? Not only do the colors clash, they have somehow managed in the printing process to make the product look uglier than it really is. It looks like they made the screen shots by dumping the screen in black and white to a printer, and then inking it later. It's hard to pinpoint, but something about it makes it look really unprofessional. The rest of the ad, however looks fine. On a slightly more important note... I don't have a copy of the new System/Finder/Multifinder yet, but I was curious about how they implemented the blessed folder. I heard that there is an SICN of a Macintosh on the icon for the blessed folder. Does the Mac find the blessed folder using the old method and slap the SICN onto the appropriate folder, or is the information actually stored on disk? One final question. Did anybody keep the hints about implementing palettes that were around at about the beginning of summer? Like always, I didn't need it then, but I need it now. If anybody has kept any of the discussion, please send me a message. Thanks. -Sho (sho@tybalt.caltech.edu, sho@caltech.bitnet, ...seismo!cit-vax!tybalt!sho)
