[comp.sys.mac] Postscript -> Unix in some reasonable way?

cordy@qucis.UUCP (12/04/87)

I've been using a LaserWriter connected to a Sun/3 network to print
my MacWrite and WriteNow documents for some time now, using the usual
Command-F and MacTerminal transfer method of printing. While this way
works fine, it occurs to me that the whole thing could be a lot easier
if a couple of simple things were fiddled.

First, if the LaserWriter driver on my Mac could be changed so that it
permanently was in Command-F mode, it would be much easier to save the
PostScript files to send.

Secondly, if there was a DA that could send things to the modem port in
MacTerminal 1.1 transfer format (as accepted by macget) then I wouldn't
have to leave MacWrite/WriteNow to print.

Has anyone tried doing either of these things? Come to think of it,
has anyone tried fiddling the LaserWriter driver to send PostScript in
Command-F mode directly out the modem port in MacTerminal 1.1 format?
That would be ideal.

(I've tried ResEditing the LaserWriter driver myself, but have had no luck
locating where the resources related to Command-F are.)

Thanks
