References: I was told by an Apple Sales Rep that the 1Meg SIMMs for the SE and II (same part #: M0219) won't necessarily work in the Plus. He seemed confused (read: new), and I wanted to check the net on this. I can see absolutely no reason for them not to work except for potentially physical reasons or the resistor cutting referred to recently on the net. Could someone please clarify this for me? I know that the answer will be very simple. Sorry if this has been hashed over recently. -- Rich Straka ihnp4!ihlpf!straka Advice for the day: "MSDOS - just say no."

On the 2-Meg upgrade kit from Apple is a little chart indicating what combinations of 1-meg SIMMS can be placed in Plus', SE's, and II's. The same part number, M0219, is used in the exact same manner for both the SE and the Plus. There is a separate chart for the the Mac II, but there is no mention that the SIMMS will not work in a Plus. I also just received my 2-meg upgrade from MacProducts. It came with installation instructions for both a PLus and and SE, which would seem to indicate that I could have used the upgrade in a Plus instead of my SE. Perhaps Apple would rather you buy and SE? Paul H. Steele USENET: {uunet|watmath|utai|garfield}!dalcs!aucs!Paul Acadia University BITNET: Paul@Acadia Wolfville, NS CANADA B0P 1X0 (902) 542-2201x587

Actually the likely situation is that based upon physical size, it is possible that simms will fit the Mac Plus and MacII but not the SE. The reason is that the SE has less clearance above the simms. I have some that do not use surface mount and are a fraction of an inch taller. They fit my Plus and II but not the SE. This may be what confused the salesman.
