[comp.sys.mac] Shutdown Manager and MultiFinder

tim@hoptoad.UUCP (12/05/87)

Despite a claim here, I believe the Shutdown Manager does *not* quit open
applications under MultiFinder before shutting down; this is something that
is done by MultiFinder only, before calling the Shutdown Manager.

My reason for believing this comes from observing the "shutdown" tool in MPW
2.0. Giving a shutdown command in MPW does not close open applications
under MultiFinder. The machine is rebooted or turned off with the
applications still running. In order to shut them down automatically, you
have to use the "Restart" or "Shut Down" commands in the MultiFinder
"Special" menu instead.
