I have been using macput for quite some time now on our Vax running BSD 4.2
with no problems. (I use MacTerminal 2.2)

The steps I take are :

	1) set the file transfer protocol to XMODEM Text in the File
	   Transfer menu.
	2) enter "macput -u -t type filename"
	3) sit back and watch MacTerminal do it's stuff - for a large file
go get a cup of tea :-)

Hope this is of help

I have been using Versaterm and I put the file transfer setting in the menu, to
Mac Xmodem, and hae never had any problems.
