I'm looking for software to perform hard disk backups. Ideally, the package should provide options to select files/folders and to back up only those files which have changed. So far, I've encountered o HFS Backup, PCPC o Hard Disk Backup (1.0), FWB Software o HD Backup, PBI Software o Flashback, Mainstay Any comments on these or others that should be considered? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- D. Check out Diskfit from SuperMac Technology. Files are in normal Finder format so that you can restore them without using Diskfit if need be. Or you might look into FastBack from Fifth Generation Systems, backs up a meg a minute, I am unsure as to its reliability however.

Greetings, DiskFit 1.4 (currently being shipped to distributors and upgrades will be available after January 1st, 1988) allows one to backup to diskettes, another hard disk, DTC/Kodak cartridges, Bernoulli cartridges, and any 3M DC2000 tape drive (SuperMac's DataStream, XP40+40, and XP60+40; Apple's Tape Backup 40SC, and GCC's HyperTape). It also give one the ability to Exclude [folders] by using the brackets ([]'s) around the name of any folder. Incremental Backups are the same. Once a complete backup (System files, Applications, and Documents) has been done, any succeeding backup will be an incremental and thus only changes which have occurred since the last backup will be reflected on one's SmartSet (your backup). They are, roughly speaking, 10 megabyte floppy disks. I believe there are some other companies making drives that use the same media, but I'm only sure about Jasmine, 'cause I wrote that software. Ephraim Vishniac ephraim@think.com Disclaimer: I did have a business relationship with Jasmine, but I've already cashed the check.
