[comp.sys.mac] Kinetics announces 1st ethernet card for Mac II?

jk@apple.UUCP (John Kullmann) (12/11/87)

MacWEEK, Dec 8th:
"Kinetics Inc. has announded the first Ethernet interface card for
the Macintosh II...."

Gee, we'd better get a bunch of those quick! so we can replaced the ones
we've been using here in out Mac II's for the last year or so....

kevin@violet.berkeley.edu (Kevin Baranski-Walker) (12/12/87)

John, while it's clear that MacWeek made another one of their
write-before-you-think errors, nonetheless *we* have not had
an ethernet board for our Mac II's "... for the past year ...".

In fact after waiting 5 months I finally got it last week.

I'm still not sure why Kinetics/Excelan decided to market such
a product which seems to be a functional equivalent to the
EtherTalk, but at $100 more. Does the Kinetics board have DMA
and EtherTalk lacking?
