[comp.sys.mac] 4D Limitations and woes?

sce@runx.ips.oz (Simon Evans) (12/15/87)

We have a developer here working with 4th Dimension who is
having some problems. We/I/he would appreciate any light
the assorted minds out there can shed.

1. Is there a limit on the size of 4D procedures? The good
ol' "32K" limit?

2. We have a (moderately complicated) layout (includes a subfile)
with a (moderately complicated) layout procedure,
which is opened in one instance by a call to AddRecord which
takes about 4 seconds to execute on a Mac2. Is this usual/not uncommon
/abnormal in people's experience? Does anyone know of any means of
speeding it up? Is this related to 1?

Thanks for any suggestions, Simon Evans.
