[comp.sys.mac] Mac II ADB problem

Greetings,

I was wondering if anyone has heard of any problems with the Apple Desktop Bus
circuits on the Macintosh II. I know of three of them in which the ADB would
refuse to respond to either mouse or keyboard input after the keyboard was
changed from the standard keyboard to the extended keyboard. Switching
keyboards, mice, cables and ADB ports did nothing to fix the problem; neither
did changing hard disk and system files. The only solution in these three
cases was replacing the motherboard.

I read an article on here not long ago that there is a microprocessor inside
all ADB devices that are initialized upon a bootup. Thus, unplugging one will
erase the memory in the device. Did you Shut Down when switching keyboards?
If not, the new keyboard wasn't initialized. The person mentioned nothing
about damage, though, just that the system had to be rebooted. Hope that helps.
