[comp.sys.mac] Color Mac II Programs

jasst3@cisunx.UUCP (Jeffrey A. Sullivan) (12/09/87)

Does anyone have a list of what programs support color on the Mac 2? Also, I
saw a color version of billiards... I wonder if anyone could tell me where to
get it? (Looked really nice!).

Let's see: Canvas, SmartcomII, Colorizer, ATG stuff, Greyview, several
public domain demos, and yes, that nifty billiards demo.

There are new versions of many of the many paint programs which are due out
soon that will support color, anyone know if any were released yet?
The Billiards demo was done by the Reed Institute, and the about box
said it was to be released as a product in SPRING of 1987! I never
saw it, or would have bought it. After the MacWorld expo in Jan, I
expect lots of color stuff to be floating around.

At the MIDI Expo in New York early in December, I saw at least one color
Mac program. I believe it was from Southworth, or whichever company
produces MIDI Paint. This program (can't remember the name exactly.
Maybe "One Step"?) was a cheap sequencer program that apparently was
a simplified version of MIDI Paint for people who didn't need something
so powerful (or expensive :-) Anyway, it was running on a Mac II and
was using color for various things. It looked nice.

It might be reasonable to assume that there is also now a version of
MIDI Paint available in color for the Mac II, but I can't say for sure.

Sorry to be so vague, but my memory is failing me nowadays. Anyone doing
MIDI on their Mac should be able to confirm all this stuff.

The Deskview program posted to the net looks nice, but where
do we get the color picts to run with it? The message that
comes up if you don't have a startup screen has a small color
picture with some colored reflecting balls. It would be nice
to have it as a full screen version. Giffer has some color
files, but I can't seem to get them into a format readable
by Deskview. The local dealers seem to be too busy to see if
they have any color picts unless you are planning to buy a machine
from them. Are there any ftpable picts anywhere?
