I have this large and involved dialog box with about 50 items, static text,
editable text, buttons, check boxes, the works. It works just fine, but
the trouble is it gets drawn in a strange way: all the controls show up,
then there is a pause of about three seconds before any of the static text
is drawn. This is a very awkward pause, annoying to a user. Inside Mac
mentions this problem, in volume one, page 412: "NewDialog generates
an update event for the entire window contents, so the items aren't drawn
immediately, with exception of controls...If you find that the other items
aren't being drawn soon enough after the controls, try making the window
invisible initialy and then calling ShowWindow to show it." This does not
seem to work. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting the whole thing
to show up all at once?
