I noticed in the latest MacWeek that Dreams of the Phoenix appears close to demise, having failed to make royalty payments and ship products, and having discnnected their phone. I could have pre- dicted that they were headed for trouble a year ago, when I sent them my original disk and five dollars for an upgrade. When I didn't hear from them, I called and was told that their records showed that the upgrade had been sent. After a postal trace, nothing was found. Any decent company would have sent me another disk. But DofP insisted that I pay for the upgrade; moreover, since I was asking for a replacement (rather than an exchange), they had the gall to ask for $10 rather than $5! I said "Up your DA." So while there were times, early in the history of the Mac, that many of us would have regretted seeing the company that brought us those useful Quick and Dirty Utilities go down the drain, I (and I suspect many others) will not be shedding any tears.
