This is for a friend who does not have net access please mail all replies to me directly. A friend has a problem with his Mac Plus seeming to run out of memory in the Finder. When his hard disk is mounted as startup and two disks are inserted into the external and internal drives, opening the chooser will yield the message "LaserWriter cannot be used", "AppleShare cannot be used", "ImageWriter cannot be used", etc. When one of the disks is ejected the problem goes away. What confuses both of us, is that it's a Mac Plus and shouldn't even come close to running out of memory. The system is as follows: MacPlus w/ external 800K drive Nova 30 meg hard disk System 4.1/Finder 5.5 Tops Spooler Suitcase, Pyro, QuicKeys, Backdrop, Cheapbeep, MenuClock v3.0. We both realize that the number of INITs/CDEVs could be causing problems, but the simple fact is that there's more than enough memory for them. The PRAM has been reset to no avail, Systems replaced, etc. Anyone have any ideas?
