I periodically connect my Mac SE to a friends PC clone and have noticed what seemed like significantly slower throughput with Red Ryder 10.3. I decided to do some timings when we had them connected the other day and these the results are attached. The timings for sending a single 28k binary file FROM the pc TO the Mac using CRC XMODEM were the following: Terminal Emulator Time Mac2624 2.05 :11 MicroPhone 1.1 :23 Red Ryder 10.3 1:18 [Wow!] Reflection 1.10b :15

I would like to know the baud rate used on this test and I'm very interisted in more information on Mac2624 and Reflection. i.e. price, do they handle scripts, can they add LF's to text files being sent.. and any other pertinent information. I thank you for posting the results.. I only wish I knew about RR 10.3's throughput problems before I bought it and wasted my money. Thanks.... Tim Carson San Jose, Ca

Oops, the baud rate was 57kb. Both Mac2624 and Reflection will add linefeed on xfer to the HP 3000. Only reflection has a command language (a big difficiency in Mac2624). Reflection also has typeahead. Mac2624 has a slight edge in terms of reliability in working with HP 3000 block mode programs but Reflection is catching up quickly (especially with their 2.0 release). Reflection also wins for display speed (although you only see the difference when direct connected at 9600 or higher baud rates). While reflection is getting much better, Mac2624 is still a much more Mac-like application. Reflection is more like the HP terminals, especially in the area of configuration screens.
